Most drain clogs are caused by the gradual accumulation of organic matter, hair and grease on the inside walls of drainpipes. Over time, this buildup slows down the normal flow of water through the pipe, much like cholesterol in the bloodstream. When a clump of debris or a wad of hair tries to pass through the pipe, it can become stuck and completely stop the flow. |

If water backs up quickly each time the drain is used, the problem is most likely close to the drain opening in the tub or sink.
Hair clogs often form around the stopper mechanism in the first vertical section (A). For tough hair clogs, nothing beats Drano® Max Gel Clog Remover.
Most clogs that form in the trap (B) are caused by foreign objects. While a drain opener can provide temporary relief by removing debris around the foreign object, the object will eventually have to be removed.
Clogs can also be caused by buildup in the lateral section of the pipe (C). Use a clog remover to treat a stopped or slow-running drain; use Drano® Build-Up Remover to prevent clogs from recurring.
If the drain doesn't begin to back up immediately, the problem is further in the drain system. Use a larger quantity of product (32-64 oz.) to enable it to reach the clog site. If this is still not successful, a mechanical treatment (snaking or rodding by a plumber) may be required. |

Used regularly, Drano® Max Gel Clog Remover can keep your pipes free from the plaque-like buildup that is responsible for most clogs. Buildup removers utilize natural enzymes to continuously eat away at buildup and prevent its accumulation from causing future problems. Just pour a capful of Drano® Build-Up Remover in every drain, once or twice a month, to keep your pipes clean and free flowing. |
